What the 360 booth actually does
Guests step onto a low round platform and a camera arm orbits them while they move. The output is a slow-motion clip, shared to a phone on the spot rather than collected afterwards. Its real advantage is social: people watch each other take a turn, so a queue forms and the booth becomes part of the room rather than a corner of it. That is why it works at product launches and after the dance floor fills.
Its constraint is the same thing: it needs floor space for the platform and the arm, and it wants people willing to be watched.
What the glam booth actually does
The glam booth is a still camera with studio lighting and a black-and-white finish, which is why the portraits look like they were taken deliberately rather than snapped. Guests get a print on the night and the digital file afterwards. It flatters everyone, it does not depend on the room’s own light, and it suits a dressed-up evening where people want to look like they made an effort.
Its constraint is that it produces one kind of image very well. If you wanted movement or noise, this is not the booth.
So which one?
- A wedding — the glam booth, usually. The portrait is the thing people keep, and a wedding already has a photographer for the movement. If the reception runs late and loud, the 360 is a fair second choice for the back half of the night.
